When you step into Hayashi291 Japanese Restaurant, located at 291 Bridge Rd, Richmond VIC 3121, Australia, you’re in for a treat that transcends the typical dining experience. This hidden gem in Richmond blends tradition with innovation, offering a menu that will satisfy even the most discerning palates. Whether you're a long-time fan of Japanese cuisine or someone just starting to explore the flavors of Japan, Hayashi291 has something special for everyone.

The moment you walk through the doors, you're greeted by a cozy yet contemporary atmosphere. The warm wooden accents, the soft lighting, and the friendly staff make it feel like you're entering a welcoming home. The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between a casual eatery and a fine dining experience, making it a great choice for a night out or a special celebration. The restaurant offers a space that encourages relaxation while still delivering the kind of service you would expect from a top-tier dining establishment.

Let’s dive into the menu. Hayashi291 serves a wide array of Japanese dishes, ranging from sushi and sashimi to warm and comforting noodle bowls. Their sushi is prepared with the freshest fish available, each piece meticulously crafted to ensure the right balance of flavor and texture. The salmon, in particular, stands out-its melt-in-your-mouth consistency and delicate taste are just exceptional. The sushi rolls come in a variety of styles, with the chef’s special rolls providing a unique twist on classic Japanese favorites. You’ll find options that are both light and indulgent, with creative pairings like tempura-fried sweet potato and creamy avocado wrapped in delicate rice.

One of the things that makes Hayashi291 stand out is their ability to bring something new to the table without losing sight of tradition. Take their ramen, for example. This dish is a fan favorite and not to be missed. The broth is rich and flavorful, slow-cooked to perfection, and the noodles are just the right texture-never too soft or too firm. The pork belly adds the perfect touch of savory goodness, and the soft-boiled egg, with its creamy yolk, takes it to another level of deliciousness.

If you’re in the mood for something different, you can try one of their bento boxes, which offer a little bit of everything. Each box includes a portion of rice, a protein (like teriyaki chicken or grilled fish), pickled vegetables, and a few sides like miso soup or seaweed salad. It’s a well-rounded meal that gives you a little taste of everything the restaurant does best.

For those who appreciate an authentic dining experience, Hayashi291 also offers a selection of sake, perfectly paired with your meal to enhance the flavors of each dish. The staff is always happy to provide recommendations based on your preferences, ensuring that every aspect of your dining experience is tailored to your tastes.

Stunning, cute little spot in Richmond with a cosy, homey vibe and exceptionally friendly staff. We absolutely loved their ramen, which was full of flavour and beautifully presented. The whole atmosphere feels warm and welcoming, the kind of place you want to come back to. It does tend to get quite busy, so an earlier booking is probably a good idea if you want to avoid the rush. Overall, a delightful experience and highly recommended.

Hayashi291 is a great Japanese restaurant that offers probably the widest menu in the area covering all the best bits. There's Sushi, Katsu, curries, Udon noodles, ramen and more with all the options too from Pork, Prawn, Tofu, chicken etc. service is quick, food is great value and decent serves. Good drinks list and plenty of space to dine in and enjoy your night.

it’s super clean to be honest, the lady was super sweet and nice. Had the Karaage curry, served with rice and a bowl of miso soup, the chicken are pretty crunchy but not as original. Doesn't tase much of the ginger like it should. Hayashi raman was served in a big bowl, slow cooked pork was pretty tender, flavour was pretty good. Soup was alright, not super hot.

We got Kimchi Cheese Nabe, kaarage curry, takowasa and bara chirashi. Great food. Takowasa super fresh, not watery or smell. Chirashi was phenomenal. I enjoyed it very much. Nabe does not come with rice. So remember to get rice.

Really impressed with the quality of food and the service received while dining here with my family!! It’s a great little spot with really lovely staff and the portions were surprisingly large considering the cost of each dish. We got a selection of ramen, sushi and side dishes which were carefully prepared and insanely tasty. I would definitely recommend and return!!
